Through funding from the Wellcome Trust, the University of Glasgow is offering Biomedical Vacation Scholarships for undergraduate students over the Summer of 2023. The scheme provides an exciting opportunity for students to contribute to cutting-edge research at University of Glasgow, acquire specific scientific skills, and consider future career paths beyond their first degree.

Students who have identified a summer project/activity connected to their studies may apply for funding by this route provided that they are not already in receipt of another scholarship supporting the same work.

We are especially keen to recruit students from backgrounds under-represented in science and 50% of positions are ring-fenced for individuals that meet at least one of the following widening participation criteria:

1. Identify as having a disability

2. Be in receipt of enhanced maintenance support from the relevant UK student finance agency to help with living costs during study

3. Registered with your university’s widening participation team

4. Meet criteria for an ethnic minority based on UK government criteria: https://www.ethnicity-facts-figures.service.gov.uk/style-guide/writing-about-ethnicity.

5. Study at a non-Russell Group university (and link to Russell Group: https://russellgroup.ac.uk/about/our-universities)
